YUNGMIGA began as a general blog about places and events happening on the north side of Chicago. However, it has taken a turn to a more specific route: writing about queer people, places and things. As Nic learns more and grows as a writer, YUNGMIGA does too.
About Nicole "Nic" F. Anderson
Nicole "Nic" F. Anderson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She attended University of Illinois – Chicago for one year before transferring to Wilbur Wright College.
Anderson became a staff reporter for The Wright Times newspaper and quickly moved her way up to editor of arts and culture. A few months later she became the Editor-in-Chief which she held until she graduated in December 2016.
She was the Editor-in-Chief for the Wright Side Literary Arts Magazine and was awarded the Howard J. Wilcox award for her efforts.
Anderson won the 2016 Daredevil’s Writing Conference with her short story “A Bottle of Gin.”
Her essay “It Took Time to Love My Hourglass Figure” was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Curvy and Confident.
She now attends Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) and is majoring in communications, media and theatre and will graduate in May 2019. She is the news and co-managing editor for NEIU's student newspaper, the Independent. Anderson previously interned at the Chicago News Media Group and has been published in more than six different publications.
After finishing her degree, Anderson plans on moving to New York City to become a professional journalist.
