With the school semester literally around the corner, the back to school blues begin... Along with the back to school supply purchases making our bank accounts cry. For the last minute shoppers, I have some tips to save you (or your parents) some money.
When it comes to buying books:
Buying brand new books is almost silly, they’re going to get beaten up anyways, so why not save yourself a couple bucks and buy used?
-Find out what you need to buy and take a look at chegg.com. Most of the time, you can buy used or rent books for 3/4 of the original price.
-Visit your local book resale shop and find out if they have the book you need.
-Check ebay.com and amazon.com to find used books.
When it comes to buying supplies:
Everyone wants the coolest notebooks and the pens that write the best, but finding things that you like, can get costly.
-Dollar Tree, Five Below and Walmart all have lots of things for school that you need for five dollars or less.
When it comes to buying things for your dorm room or new apartment:
It’s so easy to rack up hundreds of dollars making your new living area a place that suits your personality.
-Aliexpress.com has lots of cool furniture and furnishings to buy with free shipping! Also, if for some reason, there’s a problem with your purchase, the website will give your money back!
-Etsy is a great place to buy from too, but be weary of the shipping and handling prices.
-Any GoodWill, Salvation Army, thrift store has quality furniture for a fraction of what you would spend at a furniture store. Plus, you don't have to spend money on shipping, as long as you have a way to transport the furniture!
-Check craigslist! There are lots of people who are selling their furniture because they can't bring it with them/buying other furniture sets!
When it comes to buying new threads for school:
Every semester that rolls around, almost everyone wants to buy some new clothes, but who wants to spend one hundred dollars for only three clothing articles?
-Check out your local thrift stores. Give yourself a whole day to shop and look through all of the clothes in the section that you prefer, because one mans (or woman’s) trash is another’s treasure.
-Download the Vinted app, it's a free app for smart phones, that allows you to buy clothes from other people. You can also bargain with the seller for a lower price!
-Aliexpress.com has a lot of cute and cool clothes (girls and guys), with once again, FREE SHIPPING!
When it comes to the back to school blues:
As exciting as it is to start a new semester, the stress of your schoolwork load will come soon enough.
-Stock up on the coffee and tissues.
-Take yoga classes.
-Call loved ones.
Best of wishes and luck!
